FROM UNIFORM TO UNIVERSITY

A Scholarship programme for IDF discharged soldiers which provides funding of 2/3 of annual higher education tuition fees. Scholarships are provided for three academic years

LEISURE AREA IN A COMBAT UNIT

This relaxing area of 25sqm allows soldiers to unwind and recharge after stressful duty. Includes outdoor furniture, astro turf, canopies etc.

IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

Impact Scholarships support discharged combat IDF soldiers from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, for whom higher education and a University degree would otherwise be unattainable. The cost covers one soldier for a period of four years.

REFURBISHMENT OF EXISTING REST & RECREATION CLUB

Re-fitting the interior of the rest & recreation club. Includes: air-conditioning, furniture, TV sets etc. Average price £15,000 (depending on size of club).

BAYIT CHAM

Flats for lone combat soldiers. Each “bayit” (flat) is fully furnished and each soldier gets their own bedroom. All maintenance bills are included. We require 100 of these flats. This project renews every 3 years.

A special practical gift for lone soldiers once a year on Family Day.

SYNAGOGUE

These synagogues allow observant soldiers a place to pray in their units. The air-conditioned synagogues accommodate soldiers and have everything they would need to pray. Average price £40,000 (depending on size of synagogue).

EMBRACE

Adopt an IDF combat unit
“Embrace” is a 3-year sponsorship programme costing £25,000pa. It includes fun days, sports days, events honouring outstanding soldiers, unit celebrations of Jewish Holidays, and much more. If they wish, sponsors can become personally involved by attending any of the activities/events.

GYM

These gyms are a favourite with soldiers. They allow combat soldiers to unwind from the immense pressures of their life-threatening risks, and at the same time keep fit! These gyms are air-conditioned and fully-equipped. Average price £85,000 (depending on size of gym).

THE PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year UK AWIS grants educational scholarships to 120 exemplary soldiers selected by the IDF. The soldiers are invited to the President’s residence on Yom Haatzmaut for the main ceremony which takes place at his home.

OUTDOOR FITNESS FACILITY

This outdoor area of 121sqm comprises specialist fitness equipment.
The fitness yard is instrumental in allowing soldiers to train and work out all year long.

IDF ENLISTMENT FESTIVAL

Annual event for the new IDF recruits, who are given relevant information with regards to what they will be doing during their service. As a ‘thank you’ for joining the IDF, they will enjoy performances by top Israeli artists in the industry. Donation by bank transfer or cheque only.

UK AWIS can reclaim tax on your donation through the Gift Aid
Scheme. This will make your gift worth 25% more to UK AWIS, at no
extra cost to you.

1. You can cancel this declaration at any time by Notifying the Charity.
2. If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax the Charity reclaims you can cancel your declaration (see note 1)
